Utah Book Getting Close!

I just got 4 copies of my book, “Utah Mountains To Deserts” They look sweet! I’m letting companies personalize the first page with log/text, or whatever for a certain quantity ordered before I go to press the end of the month. They will make great corporate gifts for clients, workers, prospects, etc. Spread the word. I should have the real deal done end of august or so.

Lake Powell Slots

We had a great time in Lake Powell. The advantages of going to the lake for 15 years has given me much insight on the landscape on where to go and when.  I only shot a couple of morning and evening shots because the sky and light was lacking in drama. I try to find places where reflected light can be utilized on cloudless skies such as slot canyons or reflections on water in the late afternoon. These reflection abstracts are truly one of a kind and can never be recreated which make them unique. I enjoy seeing different moods and combinations I can capture.

This last photograph in the slot canyon series is the best exposure from the trip in my opinion. The lighting was suburb, but wasn’t at first. I could see the path the sun was taking and knew if I waited about 1.3 hours it would be just perfect. The smooth hard gray rock was the perfect focal point as it lay at the bottom of the sandstone groove. Patience and foresight  paid off.

Of course I had to use my daughter to model for me in this huge waterhole. Kind of surreal with her own private secluded water waterhole soaking up the sun.

I’ve included a couple others with reflections of buttes. One required a little scrambling to get up, not for the faint of heart to be sure. I hope you enjoy these, after all, eye candy is so much more rewarding than mouth candy don’t you think!
