I’m organizing a trek through the Peru Andes! We will be flying into Lima, then taking a bus to Huaraz. From here we will be joined by our professional guides and start our 11 day trek into the most beautiful part of the Andes. It is called the Huayhuash Circuit Trek. Glaciers, rugged peaks, turquoise water lakes and more. The maximum altitude will be 16,900 feet and elevation gain will be about 20,000 feet.

The first 3 days will be spent acclimating at Huaraz, with short hikes to get used to the altitude. The distance each day will be between 5-8 miles with an approximate trekking distance of 72 miles, without side trips.

Cost

Cost is $2,400.00. Half upon booking and the other half 14 days before departure.

Group size: This trek is limited to 6-8 participants.

Included with the $2,400.00: We will have all our meals and tents, pads, cooking area and dining tent, shower tent, water, and donkeys for carrying our camping gear (10 kg or 22 lbs per passenger). As well as guides, transportation from Pocpa to Huaraz, mountain chef, and photography workshop instruction (ME)!

How hard is it?

This is a moderately strenuous trip. Not big mileage each day, and most of our gear will be carried by donkeys, but we will be at high elevations which takes more energy to move with less oxygen. For those attending I would suggest doing several backpack trips to prepare. I will also suggest getting some type of cancellation insurance or insurance if you need to be evacuated.

Not included

  • Airline ticket to Lima and back to the country of origin (from SLC they are about $800-$1,200 round trip)

Also thinking of extending a few days to visit Machu Picchu for those that would like to. More details later on this extension.
